John LaMonica Volunteers

Kansas-based John LaMonica makes his Moodgadget debut with Volunteers, a complex journey through the fringes of the world of pop music, where the recognizable qualities of classic pop songwriting are presented in strict moderation, glinting amidst heavier influences of experimental and electronic.
According to LaMonica, Volunteers is the combined result of two separate concept records, both of which arose from an artistic live performance. The entire record is permeated with a wild disposition that croons softly one moment, only to spaz out in a barrage of glitchy, pulsing percussion. Fans of Thom Yorke, Jamie Lidell, and Skeletons & The Kings of All Cities should take note of the new kid on the block.
